SEATTLE — A new poll shows strong support for two statewide initiatives on the November ballot.
Initiative 522 would require labeling of genetically-engineered food. Initiative 517 would set penalties for harassment of signature gatherers and signers and allow more time for signatures to be collected.
The Seattle Times reported the Elway poll found 58 percent of the people surveyed supported I-517, activist Tim Eyman’s latest measure. It also found that 66 percent supported the food-labeling measure.
The poll surveyed 406 registered voters Sept. 3-5. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
