Everett man arrested in child-porn investigation

EVERETT -- A FBI child pornography investigation out of Ohio has led to the arrest of an Everett man who's accused of possessing hundreds of sexually explicit images of young girls on his laptop computer.
Bail was set at $10,000 Thursday for the suspect, 35, who was ordered to stay away from children, the Internet and computers if he posts bond.
The investigation began in Cleveland a year ago. A suspect there admitted to receiving and trading child pornography with several people, according to court papers. The FBI agent was able to identify the Snohomish County man through email addresses that showed someone was receiving child pornography at an Everett convenience store, which had wireless Internet access.
The suspect was the only employee working at the time the images were sent, according to a police affidavit establishing probable cause for his arrest.
The FBI sought help from Everett detectives.
The Everett man allegedly told police that they would find child pornography on his laptop at his home and an iPad he'd left at a pawn shop. A computer forensics detective examining the laptop found hundreds of pictures and at least 17 videos deemed child pornography.
Police found some pictures of a neighbor girl, 5, who was clothed. She was scheduled Thursday to be interviewed by detectives.
So far, it does not appear the man took any photos of children who were unclothed, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.
Attorneys said Thursday that the man's girlfriend and her two young children have moved out of his apartment since she learned about the allegations.
