Woman clinging to tree in Cowlitz River rescued

TOLEDO -- Lewis County emergency crews rescued a 47-year-old woman who was found clinging to a tree in the Cowlitz River.
The Daily News of Longview reported that Jeanine McDaniel, of Fife, was treated at a hospital Wednesday night for abrasions and possible hypothermia and then released.
The Lewis County sheriff's office said a man out fishing heard a woman calling for help and saw her in the river several miles upstream from the southwest Washington community of Toledo.
The fisherman wasn't able to rescue her due to the swift water. Fire emergency crews were able to float down to the woman and rescue her.
There was no immediate explanation of how she ended up in the river.
