KENNEWICK — A Benton County jury has convicted Grant Scantling of first-degree murder in the shooting death of his ex-fiancee’s roommate.
KNDO reported that prosecutors and defense lawyers agreed Scantling broke into Anne Krebs Kennewick home in March and shot Franklin Palmer.
Prosecutors said it was premeditated murder. The defense argued the three shots that killed Palmer weren’t enough to prove premeditation and he should have been charged with second-degree murder.
With the first-degree murder conviction Thursday, Scantling could face a life term when he is sentenced Sept. 19th.
