Friday Seahawks links

A little midday reading while you wait for the Seahawks to actually draft somebody today. No, really, even if the Seahawks decide to trade back again, they’ll definitely leave Day 2 of the draft having actually acquired players. As a reminder, Seattle currently has Pick No. 40 and 64 in the second round, and no third-round pick, though it would not at all be surprising to move back a bit at either of those spots to acquire more picks. Seattle currently is without a third-round pick, having traded it to Minnesota as part of last year’s Percy Harvin trade.

In today’s Herald, here’s my story on the Seahawks trading out of the first round, something GM John Schneider said was the goal all along.

We’ve also got a roundup of what the other NFC West teams on the blog.

Want to know what the Seahawks might do today? Haha, good one, right? Nobody knows what they’re thinking. But here’s a Round 2 mock draft from Rob Rang, one of the best in the business.

The Seahawks should definitely have some talented options at 40, should they stay there. Here are some lists of best available players from NFL.com, CBS Sports and Fox Sports.

In case you weren’t paying any attention to the first round, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel got a little bit of attention both from the TV broadcast and on social media before finally going to Cleveland at 22. Grantland.com has a pretty funny rundown of Manziel-watch.

Speaking of funny, these NFL Draft-style scouting reports on super heroes at Slate is pretty hilarious. For example, one of Spider-Man’s strengths? “Great Power. Great responsibility.”

Here’s a video of Richard Sherman talking about what it was like to slide to the fifth-round in 2011.

And Doug Baldwin put out his latest “Fresh Files” video, which has some good behind-the-scenes stuff from the Super Bowl, as well as a funny, albeit PG-13 rated, line from receivers coach Kippy Brown.
