Lookin’ mad tyte in the slow lane: Reeling from high gas prices, some car buffs have resorted to customizing fuel-sippers such as the Prius and the roller skate-like Smart two-seater.
If this trend holds, expect the next “Fast and Furious” sequel to be titled “Slow and Concerned About Climate Change.”
Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1814, Francis Scott Key wrote a poem inspired by the sight of an American flag flying over a Maryland fort after a British bombardment during the War of 1812. The poem later became the words to “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
The war was pretty much a wash for the Brits, but they would have their revenge when Key’s poem was set to the tune of a really-hard-to-sing British drinking song.
Washed out: AMC has canceled “The Killing,” the moody Seattle-set (but Vancouver, B.C.-filmed) cop show that had alienated most of its audience by not resolving the central mystery of its first season.
No reason was given, but we suspect the show’s hard-working rain machine broke down and the producers just didn’t see how they could carry on without it.
