Report, regardless of political sides

Regarding the Monday editorial, "Scribbling outside the lines": Your commendation of investigative reporting as a vital function of the print media is indeed warranted. I would suggest that in your surveying areas that are of interest to your readers, you would include current national and international events. It seems that the media fails to report on topics that are distasteful to those who decide what the public may be interested in or perhaps those topics which have political implications to which the paper does not want to call attention.
For example, over the last year we saw little reporting on the murder of our ambassador in Libya, the IRS' delayed service to organizations based on political identity, the illegal sale of weapons in Mexico as part of a government operation, the rampant excusing of organizations and individuals from participation in the Obama health care, and other politically sensitive but newsworthy occurrences. Editing by omission can be used to formulate public opinion. Your words in the referenced article "to tell honest truths" cause one to wonder what other kind there are.
