SEATTLE -- Bail has been set at $1 million for a 27-year-old Woodinville man accused of causing a fiery crash on I-405 that killed Riley Beckford, 22, of Federal Way.
The Seattle Times reported that Samuel Sampson waived his appearance at Monday's hearing. His public defender told the judge that he is a Microsoft employee with no previous criminal record.
A District Court judge found cause over the weekend to hold Sampson for investigation of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
Court documents say Sampson told police he was bored and driving as fast as 150 mph before the crash in suburban Bellevue. The documents say he also acknowledged using methamphetamine, heroin and methadone in the days and hours before the crash.
The wreck Thursday night killed 22-year-old Ian Riley Beckford of Federal Way.
Sampson, his wife and a passenger in another vehicle were injured.
