Let Olympia know you oppose tax

I read in Friday's Herald that state Rep. John McCoy had not received a single letter, telephone call, or email regarding Gov. Inslee's desire to increase the gas tax to support the myriad of transportation projects in the upcoming budget. First of all, I am urging everyone opposed to this idea, to contact their legislator and specifically Rep. McCoy's office to tell them we are opposed to any transportation plan that calls for these increased taxes.
With our economy in a fragile position, I do not think any tax increase is good. Increasing taxes on families who are just trying to get to and from work is not an acceptable solution. The state seems intent to fund more and more public transportation options including ferries, light rail and buses. Those dollars do not help the majority of commuters and subsidize the few over the needs of the many. How many bridge inspections could be done for the cost of building light rail across I-90?
Please take action to make sure the Legislature knows how you feel. I guess the only good news is that if this does pass and the tax increases, I can always get a minimum wage job in Seattle at $15 per hour to cover the cost of the gas.
