Experience the great outdoors in downtown Everett.
Imagine Children’s Museum will bring camping, hiking, fishing and wildlife activities to Wall Street this weekend for “Derby Days: The Great Outdoor Adventure,” a two-day event to celebrate the opening of a new interactive camping exhibit.
“A lot of people are interested in the great outdoors and this event is all about getting out, getting involved and finding things to do as a family,” said Barbara Roberts, who coordinated the event. “It’s a huge celebration.”
Find out plankton’s relationship to salmon from the Seattle Aquarium; learn about bears, cougars and other animals from Western Wildlife; and receive an introduction to geocaching from Everett Parks and Recreation.
These and other outdoor organization will have booths outside the museum on Wall Street between Hoyt and Colby avenues.
Inside, kids can set up tents, sit by the camp fire, stroll down a hiking trail, build with Lincoln logs and ride stick ponies at Camp Imagine, the museum’s new exhibit.
Activities — including performances by children’s entertainers Cowboy Buck and Elizabeth and the Village Theater — are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days and are included with museum admission.
“Derby Days: The Great Outdoor Adventure” is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday along Wall Street between Hoyt and Colby avenues in Everett.
Museum admission is $9 general and free for kids age 1 and younger. More information and coupons for $1 off admission are available at www.imaginecm.org/derbydays.
