EVERETT -- Enjoy the changing seasons Thursday morning around the edges of wetlands, go over a bridge crossing a salmon stream called North Creek, and wander on trails through a forest next to the Northwest Stream Center in Snohomish County's McCollum Park.
The walk is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon at the park at 600 128th Street SE.
Naturalists Lori Powlas and Tom Noland, who is also a zoologist, will be the guides.
They will identify native plants along the way and explain their importance to fish, wildlife and people. Walkers will learn how American Indians used local plants. People also will learn to identify a few native plants that could be added to menus and medicine cabinets as well.
This Fall Nature Walk at the Northwest Stream Center is geared for first graders to adults. The cost is $5 for members, $7 for non-members. Proceeds benefit the Streamkeeper Academy.
