Star wing Jason Todd, who helped lead Jackson to a 26-1 record and a second-place finish at the 4A state tournament last season, has committed to the University of Portland.
Todd, last year’s Herald Boys Player of the Year and the Gatorade Player of the Year for Washington, announced his decision on Twitter on Sept. 11.
“Humbled and proud to say I’ll be at the University of Portland next year!” Todd tweeted. “A dream come true. Thank you to all involved! Go Pilots!”
After helping Jackson to its fourth-straight Wesco South title, Todd was named to the all-state first team while leading the Timberwolves to the championship game. Todd injured his ankle in the final, but continued to play as Jackson almost came back to defeat Curtis.
Todd was being recruited by several schools, including Santa Clara, Nevada, Gonzaga, Washington State, Montana and Oregon State.
