Time to do something about America’s poverty. (Wednesday article, “Poverty stuck at 15 percent — record 46.5 million.”) Immediate help for the hungry: don’t cut the food stamp program. One in four children are hungry. Universal early childhood education. Kids behind when they start kindergarten never catch up. Break the cycle of poverty with quality education for all children, birth to age 5. It can happen if people call their representatives and demand it.
