MARYSVILLE — A registered sex offender has dropped from sight, and police here are trying to track him down.
John E. Stains, 39, said he was going to live in the 4900 block of 61st Street. He wasn’t there Thursday when detectives went through to conduct a routine monthly check, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
They were told that Stains left a couple of weeks earlier and had not returned.
Stains is classified a Level III sex offender and considered a high risk to commit more offenses. If he changes his address he is required to alert authorities.
The state Department of Corrections has issued a warrant for his arrest.
Stains in 2009 pleaded guilty to first-degree incest. He did not participate in sex offender treatment. At the time of his conviction, Stains made statements about wanting to abduct women for sexual assault, Lamoureux said.
Stains is a white, about 6 feet tall and 210 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes and wears glasses.
Marysville police asked anyone with information about Stains’ whereabouts to call 360-363-8350.
