Quilts will soon blanket La Conner.
The 2013 Quilt &Fiber Arts Festival opens Friday and runs Oct. 5 and 6.
The citywide festival features an international show of juried and judged quilts, fiber art, and wearable art by quilters and artists from 19 states and seven countries.
The festival is a fundraising event for the La Conner Quilt &Textile Museum, with exhibits in nearby Maple Hall and the La Conner Civic Garden Club.
It includes a quilt walk, specialty vendors and a silent auction. There will be workshops in beading, hand applique, piecing, color and design.
A $10 donation includes entry to La Conner Quilt &Textile Museum at 703 S. 2nd St.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 5; and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 6.
The awards will be announced at a kick-off party from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Swinomish Yacht Club, 310 N. First St., La Conner. Admission is $20.
