MARYSVILLE – Police on Monday caught up with a fugitive sex offender inside the home of his victim, a disabled woman.
Marysville police last week sought the public’s help finding John E. Stains.
Stains wasn’t at his registered address in the 4900 block of 61st Street during a routine check. Police were told that Stains, 39, had left a couple weeks earlier. He had not registered his new address with police.
Marysville police and the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force learned that Stains was staying at a Lynnwood woman’s apartment. She is the same person whom Stains was convicted of assaulting a few years ago. Stains was arrested at the apartment Monday morning. Police planned to book him into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of failing to register as a sex offender.
Stains was convicted in 2009 of first-degree incest. He did not participate in sex offender treatment while in prison.
