EVERETT — An argument between two teenage boys over who was going to ride shotgun on a late night run to McDonald’s turned violent Monday when one teen pulled out a knife.
One boy was stabbed in the stomach and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. His injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect, 17, was released to his mother while police continue to investigate. The teen told officers that he was defending himself against an assault.
The case is expected to be sent to the prosecutor’s office to determine if any charges should be filed.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 2500 block of 51st Street SW.
The teens started arguing over who was going to ride in the front passenger seat of their friend’s car, Snell said. The boys were headed to McDonald’s.
The boys have different stories about what happened next, Snell said.
The 17-year-old told police that the other teen repeatedly punched him in the head. He pulled out a knife and stabbed the boy in the stomach.
Paramedics took the injured boy to the Seattle hospital. An update of his condition wasn’t available Tuesday.
