Snohomish volleyball beats Kamiak in five-set thriller

MUKILTEO -- The Snohomish Panthers volleyball team knew how big its match against Kamiak was before it even started.
Snohomish, which has high aspirations this season according to its coach, was told Tuesday night's tilt against the Knights was a must-win game. The Panthers responded with a five set (20-25, 25-14, 23-25, 26-24, 15-13) win.
"Our goal is to win our league so we have a chance to go to state this seaon. I told the girls before this game that this is the most important game we've played this season," said Panthers' head coach Alex Tarin. "Their goals are big this year and I told them if they want to reach them they have to win this game. And they did."
Lanesha Reagan helped Snohomish (2-0 league, 5-1 overall) overcome what Tarin called a "slow start." The coach said Reagan, who had 38 kills, 21 digs and six aces, is "definitely our go-to player."
"I believe everyone in the gym, at one point, knew we'd be setting her and Kamiak still had a hard time stopping her," Tarin said.
Kamiak (0-2, 4-2) kept each set close, with the final three back-and-forth sets all won by two points.
"That's volleyball for you," Tarin said.
