Alabama coach Nick Saban has suspended star safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix indefinitely for violating team rules.
Saban announced the suspension after Wednesday’s practice. He says he doesn’t know how long the suspension will last and wouldn’t elaborate on the reason.
Clinton-Dix is one of the top-ranked Crimson Tide’s top defenders and a projected first-round NFL draft pick. He’s second on the team with 24 tackles.
His backup, Nick Perry, has been lost for the season after shoulder surgery. Saban said Geno Smith and Landon Collins are working at Clinton-Dix’s spot.
Smith moved to safety in fall camp and Collins is also new to that position.
Clinton-Dix is Alabama’s fourth announced suspension since the start of preseason camp, joining linebacker Trey DePriest, defensive back Geno Smith and tight end Malcolm Faciane.
