More fans at CenturyLink Field next year? Plus, your Friday Seahawks links

Is CenturyLink Field going to get even louder next season? Perhaps, because the team is exploring the option of expanding seating by 2,000-3,000, which would up capacity in the stadium to roughly 70,000. Fox Sports first reported the news, you can read their story here. If the Seahawks do add seats, they would be doing so in upper level of the south end where there is a break in the upper deck seating.

The Seahawks, who cap season tickets at 62,000, had a 98 percent renewal rate this season, and have a waiting list, dubbed Blue Pride, of approximately 12,000 fans. Additionally, what single game tickets were available sold out almost immediately this season.

Now, onto the links…

In today’s Herald, I look at how Doug Baldwin’s big third-down catch against Houston was a good illustration of his value to the Seahawks.

Also, if you missed it from the blog Thursday, the media caught up with new QB B.J. Daniels.

Sam Farmer of the L.A. Times has been in town this week, and today he has a very good piece on the elusive (both to tacklers and reporters) Marshawn Lynch.

Seattle Times columnist Jerry Brewer offers his take on the Seahawks first quarter of the season.

Two of NFL.com’s experts pick the Seahawks to win in Indy, while three like the Colts.

The folks at TheMMQB.com have invented a new measure of pass rushing ability that looks beyond sack numbers, and through four weeks, Seattle’s defense, and Michael Bennett in particular, rate very well. Seattle’s offense, however, has not done a good job stopping the pass rush.

Bob Kravits of the Indianapolis Star says that, unlike the Peyton Manning-era Colts, this team doesn’t need to rely only on its passing game to win.

And along those same lines, Doug Farrar of SI.com looks at how the Colts offense has changed this year, in particular with its improved run game. Also at SI.com, previews of some of the weekend’s top games, including Seattle at Indy.

Finally, just because it’s fun, here’s a video of kids at Centennial Elementary in Olympia performing a Seahawks-themed version of Macklemore’s Can’t Hold Us. Even if you’re tired of hearing that song everywhere, this is pretty fun.

Starting pitching, a renovated offense and regression in the AL West are in Seattle’s favor, but injury issues, bullpen concerns and the Houston Astros could be a problem.
