You mean we actually have to make money? In its first effort to actually generate some revenue, mobile photo-sharing app Instagram soon will start showing occasional ads.

But it remains to be seen whether a monochrome filter with subtle purple tones and a translucent glowing white border can produce ads that make us want to eat the Ultimate Angus Three Cheese & Bacon sandwich at Arby's.

Don't know much about history: On this day in 1957, "Leave It to Beaver" premiered on CBS.

Also on that day, the Soviets launched Sputnik into orbit. Which explains why June said to Ward in the series debut, "I'm worried about the Beaver. He only got a C in Science on his report card."

Shutdown, Day 4: The budget battle turned extra-snippy Thursday, as President Barack Obama blamed House Speaker John Boehner for the mess, while Boehner contended Obama's "my way or the highway" approach is the real problem.

Perhaps the only way out of this thing is to find a suitable scapegoat. The Buzz nominates the subdivision committee people who want that guy to take down his 12th Man flag.
