'Vertical evacuation' planned for Ocosta school
The Grays Harbor County commissioners approved the idea for a vertical evacuation building Monday when they said the sheriff can apply for a hazard mitigation grant.
KBKW reported that voters this summer approved a levy for the building.
KXRO reported that Sheriff Rick Scott took the plan to the commissioners himself because some employees who normally handle the review process are not working in the government shutdown.
Scott said in case of a tsunami students, staff and teachers at the school would go up rather than trying to flee the area.
