With her team trailing the Thunderbirds 2-1 and the fourth set tied at 20, Everett's Megan Canonica was called for touching the net twice. But with a fire lit under her the Seagulls senior had three straight kills to give Everett a lead it wouldn't relinquish en route to a 25-23 win over Shorewood in the fourth set. The Seagulls would go on to win the fifth set 15-13.
"I've never seen Megan hit so hard," said Everett head coach Kris Jones. "After the set I asked her what happened and she said 'They called me in the net and I wasn't.' She was so mad and she lit it up. It was a huge momentum shift for us."
Jones was impressed by Shorewood, noting that it was the best team the Seagulls had seen this season.
"They had multiple attacks on us from multiple positions," Jones said. "She was really good serving. We just attempted to stick with them."
