COLVILLE — Trial has begun for an 11-year-old northeast Washington boy charged in what prosecutors say was an elementary school murder plot. Classmates are taking the stand.
The boy is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Prosecutors say he and a 10-year-old friend hatched a plan to kill a female classmate.
The two fifth-graders were arrested Feb. 7 after officials discovered them trying to sneak a gun and knife into their school. The girl was not harmed.
One classmate testified Thursday in Colville, that the accused discussed handcuffing and raping the girl before he planned to fatally stab her.
According to testimony, the 10-year-old was supposed to hold classmates at bay with a gun.
The younger boy pleaded guilty last April. He was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, juvenile in possession of a firearm and witness tampering. He was sentenced to three to five years in a juvenile detention facility.
