WASHOUGAL — Washougal’s current mayor and his challenger are both seeking this November to be mayor of this city of nearly 15,000 people.
But a measure on the same Nov. 5 ballot would also nullify that mayoral election.
The Columbian newspaper says, if passed, Proposition 1 would give administrative oversight to a city manager and the city council would pick a symbolic mayor from their ranks.
Mayor Sean Guard and his challenger, fire Capt. Earl Scott, have criticized the proposition.
They’re both running for the $24,000 a year job.
