Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)

The Everett Current Events Club would meet this week in the home of Alma Baker, 1515 Hoyt Ave. Assistant hostess for the meeting was Ada Bluemke. Elizabeth Kempkes would speak on West Germany, and Florence Tennyson would review "What Time Does the Next Swan Come?" by Walter Slezak.

John W. Lacher, assistant cashier at the Everett office of Seattle-First National Bank, was elected assistant manager of the Marysville branch, saidVice President and Manager Henry G. Dahl Jr. Lacher had been with the local bank since 1960.

25 years ago (1988)

Cmdr. John Szalda, an 18-year veteran of the Lynnwood Police Department, was to be interim chief in Mountlake Terrace for up to three months, while Mountlake Terrace officials selected a new chief. Szalda's appointment to replace departing chief Delbert McNeal would take effect Nov. 1.

Herald carriers of the month were Josh McFalls, Brian White, Alexander Ross, Corey Fideine, Chris Balzer, Jeff Mantei, Kevin Anderson, Charla Alex-Young, Anthony Pick, Robby Eason, Bryant Hamman, Christian Isaacson and Jason Clark.
