The Head and The Heart release 'Let's Be Still'
Rumors were swirling around Seattle about the CCT show for the week leading up to it and when tickets finally went on sale they were almost impossible to get. The show sold out online in literally 1 second which is easy to believe considering this is a very small venue for a band this popular, holding maybe 300 people. This was the perfect setting for a very cozy and intimate evening for the band with many of their family members and friends in attendance.
There was no opening band, just The Head and The Heart and their fans who were thrilled to see the band play their new album from start to finish for the first time ever. When they finished playing “Let’s Be Still” in its entirety they played fan favorites "Lost In My Mind," "Rivers and Roads" and others from their self-titled 2009 debut album and the crowd couldn’t have been happier.
After listening to “Let’s Be Still” several times in the days leading up to the show I certainly had picked some favorite songs, like the title track, ‘Shake’ and ‘Summertime’ which sounds a lot like a Pickwick song but with Charity on vocals. In turn a few were a bit left behind in my mind. That was until seeing those songs performed live on Monday night.
Toward the end of the album most of the band left the stage other than Josiah Johnson who sat at the keyboard to perform a stripped down version the song ‘Fine/Fear’ by himself. After that Josiah left and Charity Rose Thielen came back to the stage with a guitar in hand and harmonica around her neck to perform the song "These Days Are Numbered." Both performances were gorgeous and worthy of goose bumps. Since watching Josiah and Charity perform these songs solo I have been listening to them pretty much nonstop.
“Let’s Be Still” is a beautiful record from top to bottom. It is available now pretty much anywhere you would buy music and you really should go pick it up. You can see The Head and The Heart when they play Key Arena on December 3rd as part of the 107.7 The End Deck The Hall Ball.
