ARLINGTON — A 25-year-old Arlington man who died last week in a car accident along Burn Road has been identified as Julius J. Dettrich II, a former professional baseball player.
His death remains under investigation by Arlington police and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Dettrich was in a Chevrolet Avalanche that crashed into a ravine about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 10. He and another young man were both ejected. The other man was taken to a local hospital and was expected to survive.
Arlington police have not said which man was believed to be driving.
“It is still an open investigation that will likely take several months to complete,” city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said.
Dettrich was a standout baseball player at Arlington High School. He was selected by Tampa Bay in the 18th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft and pitched four seasons in the minor leagues, compiling a 6-10 record.
