SEATTLE — In a city better known for rain and coffee, Seattle police report several bizarre crimes involving pizza and hot sauce.
First the pizza.
Police say a man walked into a restaurant Wednesday night, demanded free pizza, then stabbed an employee in the back when he didn’t get it. Officers arrested the suspect nearby and recovered four knives.
The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On the same night, Detective Renee Witt says witnesses flagged down responding officers near a downtown Chipotle Restaurant to recount the hot sauce story. The witnesses said that as a man was walking out of the restaurant, an employee wished him a good evening. Witt says the departing man turned around and hit the employee in the face with a glass bottle of hot sauce, causing multiple cuts.
Officers arrested a 35-year-old man covered in hot sauce and booked him for investigation of assault. The 25-year-old victim was taken to a hospital for stitches.
