Associated Press
AIRWAY HEIGHTS -- The Washington state Corrections Department says a 47-year-old minimum security prison inmate has died while clearing land for the state Department of Natural Resources.
The Spokesman-Review report that Daniel J. Hall died Thursday. In a statement, the Corrections Department said he had been serving time at the Airway Heights Corrections Center near Spokane for drug and auto theft convictions and was due to be released in September 2014.
Natural Resources spokesman Peter Lavallee says Hall was clearing debris after a timber harvest in Stevens County. The agency didn't disclose what caused Hall's death.
Both the Natural Resources Department and the state Labor and Industries department are investigating Hall's death.
Last October, another Airway Heights inmate, 22-year-old Danny Bergeson, was electrocuted while cutting a tree near a power line on DNR land in Stevens County.
