SHORELINE — Madison Eich had 13 kills and Meg Roberts added 10 kills as Mountlake Terrace beat Shorewood in four sets to move to 6-1 and took over sole possession of first place in Wesco 3A.
The Hawks leapfrogged Meadowdale, which didn’t play Tuesday and remained 5-1 with a game against Shorecrest on Thursday.
The Thunderbirds’ consolation prize wasn’t too bad. Because Oak Harbor lost its match with Everett, the Thunderbirds still came away with a district playoff berth.
The season hasn’t necessarily gone as hoped for Shorewood, but its coach is excited for the potential of postseason play.
“We’ve had some bumps this season,” said Thunderbirds head coach Jennifer Chartrand.
“We’ve had injuries and we’ve had some players switching positions. It’s been bumpier than we anticipated. These girls have so much potential. They’ve been working really hard.
“I hope we have the opportunity to play into the post season. there are some great things still to come for these girls.”
Justine Kelly had 30 assists and Ally Hitchcock recorded 14 digs to help lead the Hawks.
