The documents say hospital tests came back positive for meth in 25-year-old Sarah Burrows-Gust's system. Police have seized blood samples to perform their own tests as they conduct a criminal investigation.
The Spokesman-Review says Burrows-Gust last Friday tried to cross a busy street in north Spokane with her 5-year-old daughter, 7-year-old son and a dog in tow.
A car traveling about 35 miles per hour down the busy street struck the pedestrians. Five-year-old Elayna Burrows-Gust was killed, while the other two suffered injuries.
