Half of us wanted spending cuts
I think its important to remember that half of this country sent representatives to D.C. to cut spending. I noticed the sarcastic way Sen. Murray said that Republicans were like 2 year olds throwing a tantrum. She forgot Republicans were trying to accomplish what "half this country" asked them to do, cut spending. There may also be a time when she needs to work with them and calling them names is not productive. This president shut down the government, refusing to negotiate, with the other half of the country through their representatives. He said that once he got everything he wanted he would sit down and talk. But everyone knew that wasn't true. His Democrats' mantra is: We will not negotiate ever. We have the Senate, the press, and to heck with the House. We will just roll over them.
Today the president, Sen. Murray and others are crowing about their victory. But at what cost? If the press were bipartisan folks would know the cost of this arrogance was our wallets. Ninety days from now we will be in the same place as yesterday. The Republicans will cave again, or this administration will again use us all as their weapon.
The president did say one thing today, he said if you want to do something, win an election. I hope people pay attention to that challenge. I look at the state of everything and wonder, what would it had been like if all Republicans had voted in the last election.
