The Herald printed a letter with the premise that the tea partiers are trying to fix the country. (“Country has a spending problem.”) The method these people wish to fix the budget is comparable to me fixing my computer with a large axe, extra blows to my hand included. Deficits and debt have been part of the running of governments since Hammurabi was scratching clay and for the most part have worked quite well. The government not paying our bills or relying on a fictitious deity’s help is not part of that working formula.
