Highway 9 in Clearview closed part of weekend
Highway 9 is scheduled to close from 8 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday between 176thStreet SE and 188thSE. During those same hours, 180thStreet SE is scheduled to be closed between Snohomish Avenue and 83rdAvenue SE.
The 164-foot long lattice structure will span Highway 9 diagonally between the northwest and southeast corners of the intersection with 180thStreet SE.
Two large cranes will lift the span at each end and hold it in place while crews secure it to existing foundations.
The signal bridge, as it is called, will hold traffic lights and directional signs to guide drivers through the intersection. Each approach to the intersection will feature two left-turn lanes, a right-turn-only lane and U-turn capability.
The state is widening more than two miles of Highway 9 from Highway 524 north of Bothell to 176th Street SE in Clearview. The $59.1 million project also includes new U-turn locations, and more signs, lights and guardrails. Work has been going on for two years and is expected to be done this fall.
