Weekend fun: Pumpkin crushing, Legos, music and more

Gourds gone: Want to get rid of that slumping jack-o’-lantern? Head over to Stocker Farms, 10622 Airport Way, Snohomish, for Pumpkin Destruction Day on Saturday. Bring your own pumpkin for $1 off the $9.95 admission. You can launch, drop, crush, bat or “cannonize” pumpkins, or watch tractors run over them. Legos! Learn how to bring your Lego creations to life with Lukas Allenbaugh of the Clay Animation Network anytime between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday at the Marysville Library. Allenbaugh will demonstrate Lego movie-making using stop-motion animation. For more information, click here.

Heart and soul: Gypsy Soul will ignite the gypsy in your soul with their lyrical music at 7:30 Saturday night at Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater in Snohomish. Tickets are $20. Click here for more info.

Beat the freeze: It’s time to pull up a cozy blanket of mulch and put your roses to bed for the winter. Rose expert Sandy Schumacher offers a free class at 10 a.m. today at Sunnyside Nursery, 3915 Sunnyside Blvd., Marysville. Learn how and when to trim your roses and ways to protect them from the cold and wind.

Fall walk: Go for a guided walk through Cama Beach State Park on Saturday at 9:50 a.m. Total mileage will be approximately 3 miles with some up and down portions. If you like, you can add on another 1.4 miles. Meet at Ivy Road and Dry Lake Road junction. Parking is on the Ivy Road cul-de-sac. Get more information here.

Avalanche safety: The Northwest Snow and Avalanche Workshop is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday in Seattle. The event teaches alpine safety and is targeted for both professionals and recreationalists. Get more info and tickets here.

Hockey: Try out hockey for free from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday at Comcast Community Ice Rink in Everett. The event is for kids ages 4 to 9. Pre-register here or register at the event beginning at 9 a.m. Kids should bring a helmet (bike helmets are fine) and mitts or gloves.

Or watch: The Everett Silvertips play back-to-back home games Friday and Saturday night. On Saturday they’ll “Pink the Rink” to raise money for breast cancer screenings. See the Silvertips’ website for tickets and info.

Craft fair: The Mukilteo Schools Craft Fair is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Mariner High School, 200 120th St. SW in Everett. The event features more than 80 vendors selling a wide range of handcrafted and commercial-type wares, including a variety of holiday items. Admission to the fair is a donation of 50 cents, which supports a scholarship fund.

Fiber art: Handcrafted works by fiber artists will be in display and for sale at “Uncommon Threads Show and Sale” from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Greenbank Farm, 765 Wonn St., Greenbank. Techniques include weaving, spinning, dyeing, basketry, knitting, felting and jewelry making. Details are available here.
