4A District 1 Tournament
When: Today-Saturday, Nov. 9
First round: Mount Vernon vs. Jackson at Everett Memorial Stadium, 4 p.m.; Kamiak at Arlington, 4 p.m. (Snohomish and Edmonds-Woodway receive first-round byes)
Defending champ: Cascade
Favorite: Tough to say. Jackson and Edmonds-Woodway battled to ties twice during the season and Snohomish split between the two teams, losing to Jackson and beating E-W. Timberwolves may be the odds-on favorite since they haven’t lost since Sept. 12.
Dark horse: Arlington. The Eagles have lost four of six games to end the season, but they have the talent to make a run.
Players to watch: Ellie Otteson, Snohomish (14 goals, 4 assists), Olivia Larson, Arlington (12 goals, 8 assists), Rylee Peterson, Edmonds-Woodway (12 goals, 3 assists), Nikki Hovland, Jackson (12 goals), Christine Heisen, Kamiak (12 goals, 3 assists), Bailey Lux-Lowery, Kamiak (6 goals, 8 assists), Quinn Otteson, Snohomish (9 goals, 5 assists), Bre Morren, Arlington (11 goals, 7 assists), Kristina Serres, Jackson (7 goals, 5 assists).
3A District Tournament
When: Today-Saturday, Nov. 9
First round: Shorewood at Marysville Pilchuck, 2:30 p.m.; Ferndale vs. Meadowdale at Edmonds Stadium, 4 p.m.; Mountlake Terrace at Marysville Getchell, 5 p.m.; Stanwood vs. Shorecrest at Shoreline Stadium, 6 p.m.
Defending champ: Meadowdale beat Everett
Favorite: Because the 3A South is decidedly better than the 3A North, it’s fair to make the 3A South champ Shorecrest the favorite heading into the tourney. But the Scots lost to Meadowdale on Monday and lost to Shorewood in September so really any of the 3A South teams in the tourney could win this if they get hot.
Dark horse: Marysville Pilchuck won the 3A North on the back of its star forwards Amanda Klep and Mackinzie Nolte. If those two get hot, the Tomahawks may have a shot.
Players to watch: Amanda Klep, Marysville Pilchuck (17 goals, 4 assists), Kelsee Crenshaw, Marysville Getchell (14 goals, 3 assists), Emily Crichlow, Meadowdale (13 goals, 3 assists), Lily Hart, Mountlake Terrace (11 goals, 3 assists), Sophia Viviano, Shorecrest (9 goals, 4 assists), Zoe Vincini, Shorewood (10 goals, 2 assists), Alyssa Navlet, Meadowdale (8 assists), Jordin Bartel, Ferndale.
2A District 1/2 Tournament
When: Today-Saturday, Nov. 9
First round: Lake Washington vs. Sehome at Civic Stadium, 3 p.m.; Bellingham vs. Archbishop Murphy at Everett Memorial Stadium, 7 p.m.; Burlington-Edison at Cedarcrest, 4 p.m.; Lakewood vs. Squalicum at Civic Stadium, 1 p.m.
Defending champ: Squalicum beat Sehome
Favorite: Squalicum or Archbishop Murphy. It looks likely that this will come down to a Squalicum-Archbishop Murphy championship game. Both teams went unbeaten in league play this season and seem to be head and shoulders above the competition.
Players to watch: Cali Crisler, Archbishop Murphy (21 goals, 11 assists), Kristi Bartz, Archbishop Murphy (13 goals, 3 assists), Chase Gormley (5 goals, 4 assists), Haley Duitsman, Lakewood (3 goals, 8 assists),
