PORT TOWNSEND — Police say an elderly woman has died in a fall from a beach bluff in Port Townsend.
The Peninsula Daily News reported that a passerby spotted her body on the cliff side Saturday morning, but crews were not able to reach it right away because the high tide and choppy water blocked access. The body was recovered Saturday evening, after the tide had dropped.
The woman’s identity was not immediately released. The Clallam County Coroner’s Office planned an autopsy, but Port Townsend Deputy Police Chief Michael Evans said there’s no sign of foul play.
The cliff, below Elmira Street Park, is known as “End of the World” bluff.
On Oct. 13, a large portion of the bluff where the body was found collapsed into the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
