The win advances the Scots to Saturday's district championship game against Meadowdale and clinches a state berth. Marysville Getchell plays crosstown rival Marysville Pilchuck in a loser-out game on Thursday.
Iacolucci's goal came in the third minute of overtime. Iacolucci cleared the ball past multiple Chargers' defenders before screaming a low rocket into the net from 20 yards out.
"Alexa won the ball at about the 20 yard line," said Scots head coach Mindy Dalziel. "She took it with her left foot and kicked it hard enough on the ground to the right of the goalie. It was just gorgeous."
Dalziel noted that her team's concern prior to the game was the unfamiliarity with Marysville Getchell's style of play.
"Going in against Getchell we knew we were going to see a formation that we don't see a lot," said Dalziel. "They have very fast forwards up front that can definitely score. Bailie (Weikel) and Kelsee Crenshaw are dynamic forwards that take care of that front line."
Neither Crensaw or Weikel were able to get past the Shorecrest backline, but Dalziel admitted despite her teams defensive pressure that there were multiple missed opportunites on both sides of the ball.
"We failed to convert on probably six opportunites in the first half," said Dalziel. "Our defensive pressure was so good that (goalkeeper Frida Swensen) was never forced to make any saves. Our defense has been good at being patient and making Frida's job a lot less stressful all year."
With the victory Dalziel now prepares her squad for Meadowdale.
"It's going to come down to potientally a free kick," Dalziel said on what she expects from the Mavericks in Saturday's championship match. "We beat them early and they beat us late in the year. They've been here before. It's a seeding game (for state) between two top defensive teams that are representing the Wesco 3A South."
