Gomez, former Disney star, all grown up now

All the Disney tween stars are growing up, and it’s freaking people out.

Miley Cyrus isn’t the only singer who has turned heads this year with racy career choices. Selena Gomez, who will headline KeyArena at 7 p.m. Tuesday, did the exact same thing. She co-starred in “Spring Breakers” earlier this year, a movie that earned its R-rating with loads of sex and violence.

The former star of Disney’s “The Wizards of Waverly Place” hasn’t totally turned her back on the kids, though. Her music hasn’t earned any parental advisories yet.

She’s touring now behind her latest album, “Stars Dance,” which topped the Billboard 200 in July. Like past efforts, the album included enough bubblegum sweetness to satisfy her younger fans.

Tickets are $44.28 to $86.75 at ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.

Ben Harper also is headed to Seattle for a show at 8 p.m. Tuesday, as he headlines McCaw Hall.

The concert, billed as an “acoustic evening” with the singer/songwriter, will find Harper playing songs from throughout his long-running career, including music from his 1994 debut, “Welcome to the Cruel World,” and his most recent album, this year’s “Get Up!”

The latter album found Harper teaming up with Charlie Musselwhite, the blues legend. The pairing was apt. Harper has always shown a strong blues streak in his music, which also draws on rock, Americana and pop.

Tickets are $51.61 to $89.66 at ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.

Meanwhille, the Sho-Ware Center in Kent will host a hard rock show at 7 p.m. Monday, with Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage set to share the stage.

Lamb of God has made its name with an unflinching take on metal. The group’s ability to win critics’ praise and fans’ support has helped it build a massive audience throughout its 15-year run. The group continues to tour behind its 2012 album, “Resolution,” which hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Though not quite as big a name, Killswitch Engage also traffics in the same kind of bristling metal. The group, six albums into its career, released “Disarm the Descent” in April, and reached No. 7 on the charts.

Tickets are $28.50 to $33 at www.showarecenter.com.

The Showbox SoDo will host a group of indie rappers from Reach Records for a show at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Unashamed Tour V has been veiled in a fair amount of buzz-building secrecy, with only five stops planned throughout its run, and no plans to hit normal concert centers like New York City or Los Angeles.

What is known is this: The tour will bring together Tedashii, KB, Andy Mineo and Derek Minor, along with special guest Swoope.

Tickets are $25 at showboxonline.com or 888-929-7849.

Finally, indie rock icons the Long Winters will hit the Neptune Theatre at 7:30 Friday night.

The group, led by frontman Josh Roderick, will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its album “When I Pretend to Fall,” by playing that career highlight in its entirety.

Tickets are $20 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.
