Prep football: Darrington 34, Orcas Island 0

EASTSOUND -- Bruce Massingale rushed for 243 yards, scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and also returned an interception for a touchdown and Darrington blanked Orcas Island to secure its first state playoff berth since 2007. Garrett Green rushed for 174 yards on 15 carries and Trent Green and Andrew Young each had two interceptions for the Loggers. Massingale (1,004 yards rushing for the season) and Green (1,152) became the first Loggers to rush for 1,000 yards in a season in seven years. Darrington plays at No. 1-ranked Morton/White Pass on Saturday in the first round of the state playoffs.
