Fees for visitors to Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest sites and to Mount Rainier National Park will be waived Saturday, Sunday and Monday in honor of veterans.
The Forest Service said that includes fees for more than 74 day-use sites in the national forest.
“This is our way of saying thanks to the brave men and women — past and present — who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe at home,” said U.S. Forest Service chief Tom Tidwell in a press release.
Before setting out, be sure to check trail and road conditions for the site you wish to visit at www.fs.usda.gov/mbs. You can also call the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie Forest Service office at 425-783-6000 or 800-627-0062.
This is the final free weekend for visitors to Mount Rainier for this year.
Currently the Nisqually entrance to Longmire and the road from Longmire to Paradise is open, but many of the other park roads are already closed for the season.
You can check the road status by calling 360-569-6575 or on the website, www.nps.gov/mora or via the park’s Twitter feed, https://twitter.com/MountRainierNPS.
Tire chains are required from Nov. 1 to May 1 for all vehicles, including four-wheel drive, traveling on Mount Rainier roads, regardless of weather conditions.
