Permits available to cut Christmas trees
You will need a permit. They are $10 for trees under 12 feet and $20 for trees taller than that.
Permits are sold at the Lynnwood and Seattle REI (although only for 12-foot and under trees.) You can also get permits at ranger stations at the Verlot and Glacier public service centers -- these locations do not accept credit cards. REI does accept cards. When you get your permit, you can get information on the cutting areas.
Don't wait too long to head out to get your tree. Most trees are reached by unplowed mountain roads. You can check here for road statuses before you head out, or call the Forest Service at 425-783-6000.
Get more information on cutting trees, including a list of where you can buy permits, on the Forest Service website.
