The three incumbent Edmonds City Council members on the Nov. 5 ballot all solidified their leads in votes counted through Friday, Nov. 8.
In the one contest that had been close in election night returns, Councilwoman Adrienne Fraley-Monillas widened her lead over former Councilman Ron Wambolt. With 95 percent of the votes counted Friday, Fraley-Monillas led with 52.2 percent of the vote to 47.5 percent for Wambolt.
Snohomish County officials plan to release updated returns Tuesday afternoon.
Wambolt had held the position before losing to Fralley-Monillas and now-Councilwoman Lora Petso in a tight three-way 2009 primary. Petso defeated Wambolt after a hand recount before losing to Fraley-Monillas in the general election. Petso later won appointment to a vacant council seat in 2010 and won a full four-year term in the 2011 election.
In the other two Edmonds council contests on the November ballot, incumbents Kristiana Johnson and Strom Peterson held their commanding leads.
Appointed incumbent Councilwoman Johnson leads challenger Randy Hayden by a 65.5 to 33.8 percent margin, and incumbent Councilman Strom Peterson leads perennial candidate Alvin Rutledge 72.7 to 26.5 percent.
Snohomish County officials had counted 14,404 Edmonds ballots through Friday out of 15,127 returned.
In a related election result, Councilwoman Petso won re- election to a six-year term on the Olympic View Water District Board of Commissioners without opposition. State law allows Petso to hold both part-time positions but forbids candidates from running for two positions in the same election. So, if Petso wins another four-year City Council term in 2015, State law would bar her from seeking re-election to both positions in 2019.
County officials had counted 4,617 Olympic View ballots, 96 percent of the 4,828 received through Friday afternoon.
The district includes part of the City of Edmonds and some unincorporated areas north of the city.
Another candidate winning without opposition on the Nov. 5 ballot was incumbent Edmonds Municipal Court Judge Douglas Fair.
In the Edmonds Port District, incumbent Commissioners Mary Lou Brock, Frederick George and Bruce Faire all won without opposition.
Officials had counted 7,915 Port District ballots, 96 percent of the 8264 ballots on hand.
The district includes downtown Edmonds, the Town of Woodway and unincorporated areas of southwest Snohomish County.
