MARYSVILLE — A Community Transit bus driver resigned Tuesday, less than a week after Marysville police found him having an outdoors sex romp during his work break.
The driver, 59, submitted his resignation in writing just before a previously scheduled meeting regarding his potential discipline, Community Transit spokesman Martin Munguia said. The man had worked for the transit agency since 1998.
Marysville police officers observed the man involved in consensual sexual activity about 7:15 Nov. 6 along State Avenue, just south of First Street. The bus was parked in the area during a scheduled break. The officers notified Community Transit.
The transit agency began an internal investigation to determine whether any policies were violated. That investigation is over, because the matter was resolved, Munguia said.
The driver’s conduct violated Community Transit’s professional conduct code, Munguia said.
“He was on the job, on the clock, even though it was his break,” Munguia said. “He was still being paid for that time, and our policies are that you conduct yourself in a professional manner representing Community Transit, and we feel that he violated that policy.”
The driver was not arrested. Marysville police have indicated that they don’t plan to cite the driver or seek criminal charges, Munguia said.
