PORTLAND, Ore. — Rental car customers at Portland International Airport could pay a facilities fee of up to $7 a day for a maximum of four days under a proposal the Port of Portland is considering.
Spokesman Steve Johnson at the Port of Portland said the proceeds would be dedicated to projects related to vehicle rentals.
The port’s commission could approve the fee as early as Dec. 11 and put it into effect Jan. 15.
At the top of the list of projects is replacing the quick turnaround facility for fueling, washing and readying vehicles.
Johnson said the existing facility is 24 years old and too small. Replacing it would cost an estimated $25 million
He said the exact amount of the fee hasn’t been determined, but $7 is the top.
