Lummi tribal member gets 10 years for rape
Robert Dewey Johnson was sentenced last week in U.S. District Court in Seattle for aggravated sexual assault.
Seattle U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan noted in a statement Tuesday that the federal judge who imposed the sentence said she concerned about the emotional harm to the victim and to the children who heard their mother's screams.
Court records show the victim and her family members were socializing in Johnson's home on the Lummi Indian Reservation on Dec. 3, 2012. Johnson sexually assaulted the woman while the woman's boyfriend left the home to run an errand.
Johnson was indicted last May and pleaded guilty in July.
