Shovel all the coal in and keep the trains rollin' in North Bend and Wickersham for the annual Santa train rides.
Board the Snoqualmie Valley Railroad in North Bend for a 20-minute, 3.5 mile ride for a stop at the restored Snoqualmie Depot where Santa awaits.
Kids can whisper their wishes to Santa and receive a small gift. Then everyone steps into the Northwest Railway Museum's kitchen car for hot chocolate, coffee and cookies baked in the car's coal stove, before reboarding the train to return to North Bend.
Trains run weekends from Nov. 30 to Dec. 21. Tickets are $20 per person for ages 2 and up.
Buy them online at www.train museum.org or call 425-888-3030, ext. 7202.
Catch the train at the North Bend Depot, 205 McClellan St.
Or take a ride through the woods with Santa aboard Lake Whatcom Railway's old passenger train.
Board the train at Wickersham, north of Sedro Woolley on Highway 9 on three Saturdays, Dec. 7, 14 and 21. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for children over age 1.
Tickets are available by mail only at Lake Whatcom Railway, Box 91, Acme, WA 98220. Call 360-595-2218 or 360-441-0719.
