PORTLAND, Ore. — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says David Dahl — the founder of Dave’s Killer Bread — was released from jail Saturday after posting bail.
Dahl was arrested late Thursday after allegedly using his Cadillac Escalade to ram the patrol cars of deputies who responded to a complaint he was acting erratically.
Dahl was arraigned Friday on an assault charge. Defense attorney Stephen Houze described the events leading to the arrest as a mental health crisis.
Dahl had been recognized for turning his life around after spending 15 years in prison. He returned to the family baking business and developed the Portland-area bakery that makes organic whole-grain breads. His story of redemption has been a marketing theme for the company.
