UW women bow down to Portland

SEATTLE -- The University Portland made 14 of 23 shots from 3-point range, including six in-a-row over a key stretch in the second half to grab a big lead, and the Pilots defeated Washington 91-77.
Portland (2-1) shot 50 percent from the field overall and 62.5 percent from beyond the 3-point arc to earn their first win over Washington in its program history.
Washington (0-2) got 22 points from Kelsey Plum and 20 from Talia Walton. The Huskies got off to a slow start, falling behind by as many as 13 early in the first half.
The Huskies went on a 13-0 run after trailing 19-6 to tie it on a two free throws by Jazmine Davis. Washington never led in the half and Pilots were up 39-33 at the break.
Washington picked things up in the second half, taking its only lead of the game at the 14:36 mark when Davis drove to the basket and scored two of her 16 points.
Portland shot 54 percent from the floor in the second half, including 10-for-13 from beyond the arc, and pulled away over the final eight minutes. Cassandra Brown came off the bench to make six of eight 3-pointers for Portland, She finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Washington shot 43 percent from the field for the game and was 7-for-22 from 3-point range.
